The Washington Dulles International Airport main terminal/control tower was designed in 1958 by Finnish architect Eero Saarinen and it is highly regarded for its graceful beauty, suggestive of flight. He called it “the best thing I have ever done”.  It was selected for a First Honor Award by the American Institute of Architects in 1966.

When I was little I remember sleeping here a lot. At the gate. Waiting for my dad to return from Hawaii or Alaska or some other far flung work assignment. I love this building, I use to just go stare at the bust of Dulles and wonder what you had to do to get an airport named after you.
